VOLUNTEER SERVICE POLICY
Login to Playmetrics and click on Volunteer Signups on the left-hand side to sign up.
To support the success of our programs, each family participating in the Spring/Summer season is required to complete volunteer service annually. The volunteer year runs from January 1 through December 31.
Annual Volunteer Requirement
Each family must complete a minimum of four (4) volunteer hours per calendar year. Volunteer opportunities vary in duration, and some families end up going over 4 hours as it is a minimum.
Families who are brand new to our soccer club will have a reduced requirement of 2 volunteer hours (to clarify: this is only for families who have not had any players in our club before.)
Volunteer opportunities vary in duration and will be posted on PlayMetrics under the Volunteer Signups tab. We will send an email notifying families when new hours will be posted.
The final volunteer opportunity of the year is typically field cleanup in mid-October. Families planning to fulfill hours (rather than pay the deposit) should plan to complete their hours by that time.
Volunteer Deposit
A $350 volunteer deposit per family is required. This will be processed the following January if the required hours are not completed during the calendar year.
Families may:
- Pay the $350 deposit up front at registration if they do not plan to complete volunteer hours, OR
- Complete their required volunteer hours to avoid the charge.
If volunteer hours are not completed and the deposit was not paid up front, the $350 charge will be processed in early January following the volunteer year. Players will not be eligible to participate in subsequent seasons until the deposit is paid.
Volunteer hours are not transferable between families, may not be rolled over from year to year, and must be completed within the designated volunteer year.
Compassionate exceptions may be granted upon Board approval.
Core Operational Volunteer Roles
The following core volunteer positions are essential to keeping our programs running successfully. No prior experience is necessary, background checks are required, and training/support will be provided as needed.
Serving in any of the following roles for any season during the calendar year fulfills the annual volunteer requirement in full:
- Head Coach (1 per team)
- Assistant Coach (up to 2 per team)
- Team Parent / Team Manager (Responsibilities)
- Board of Directors position
Serving as a Board Member for two full years earns lifetime volunteer credit.
Additional volunteer opportunities may include:
- Field Marshals
- Field Setup
- Field Cleanup
- Mowing
- Emptying Trash Cans
- Gerten’s Fundraiser
- Snack Shack
Additional Notes
- We do not currently have information regarding whether Flandrau concessions or bartending at the Brown County Free Fair will be offered this year.
- The following past opportunities are not planned for this year:
- Ball shagging at varsity soccer games
- New Ulm Home Show
This policy ensures shared responsibility among families and supports the continued success and sustainability of our club programs. Thank you so much to our awesome group of families. We could not do it without you!
